Mintex Launches Coated Brake Discs

Mintex Launches Coated Brake Discs
Global leader in brake technology, Mintex, is launching a new range of coated brake discs for the aftermarket.

TMD Friction's engineering department has worked to develop and refine the formula for the coating to ensure the brake discs have the optimum micron thickness and chemical make-up that allows gas from the friction surface to escape and not impede the braking performance.

"It is very easy to make the coating too thick or of the incorrect chemical make-up which can have a detrimental effect on the pads and disc's performance if the gas, which is produced by the heat during braking, cannot escape," comments David Baines, Head of Global Aftermarket for TMD Friction. "With more than 100 years' experience in refining and evolving braking technology, we have been working for some time to develop the perfect formula for a coated brake disc for the Mintex brand.

"Made to OE quality, the coated brake discs will still deliver Mintex's unrivalled braking performance as well as being easy to install."

The new discs offer a long-lasting smarter appearance due to its corrosion protection, making them ideal for alloy wheels.  They are precision engineered to match a car's original braking system as well as complementing the wide range of Mintex brake pads.

Jim Sumner, executive chairman of AP Group comments "The Andrew Page partnership with TMD Friction continues to go from strength to strength and the commitment for new product introduction is one example of this.  Mintex calipers, brake tubing and coated discs are all new to the Mintex brand product portfolio and are only available to purchase from Andrew Page.  This momentum will continue with the introduction of other exclusive Mintex products throughout 2015 giving our customers the Andrew Page/TMD seal of Quality going forward on safety critical components"
