Project cars go head to head at AutoInsider Live!
With less than a week to go until the first AutoInsider Live! interactive trade show, the shortlist has been announced for the "Foto my Motor" project car competition, featuring a collection of fantastic historical cars.

"Foto my Motor" is looking for the best project car in the UK, with entries coming from technicians, apprentices and enthusiasts across the country spending their spare time working on their own cars. The five finalists span from 1970?s British classics to the precision German engineering of the 21st century.

Each car will be on display at the first ever AutoInsider Live! event, which takes place in Harrogate on the 15th May. As part of the interactive trade show the overall winner will be revealed, with the winning technician receiving a range of great prizes on the day.

The five car strong shortlist includes:

  • Mk1 Lotus Elan by Mike Moat of Wakefield. Widely regarded as one of the greatest Lotus cars ever built.
  • 1972 Triumph TR6 2.5 pi by Roger Taylor of York. This Coventry-built model is a British classic, and was one of the first cars to feature petrol injection.
  • 1977/8 Alfa Romeo Alfasud T1 by Mark Wood of Harrogate. Considered to be one of Alfa Romeo's most iconic models.
  • 1989/90 Porsche 944 by Ian Herdman of Boston, Lincolnshire. This front-engined, rear wheel drive model is one of the original Porsche sports GT models.
  • 2004 Volkswagen Golf by Joe Moore of Darlington.  Now in its 7th generation, over 30 million Golf's have been sold globally.

"We had some surprising entries for this competition, and it was fascinating to see the wide range of cars that people are working on in their free time," said Annalize Davy, Marketing Manager at Andrew Page. "All of the finalists would be worthy winners for one reason or another, and it will be exciting to see the winner announced on the 15th."

AutoInsider Live! is an interactive trade show by Andrew Page, and will also feature technical seminars, a live demonstration area, competitions, product presentations and interactive displays. The exciting one-day event is designed for garage technicians and apprentices.
